Air Serbia establishes direct Belgrade-NYC flights

An Air Serbia Airbus A330 plane took off from Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport at 08:08 CET on Thursday 23rd June 2016. And this marked the official start of direct flights from Belgrade to New York after nearly a quarter of a century. Air Serbia will be flying to New York five times a week.

For the time being, Air Serbia is the only airline in the region to operate flights to New York. Introducing direct flights to New York demonstrates Serbia's commitment to opening up to the world, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said at a ceremony honoring first flight to New York. U.S. Ambassador Kyle Scott congratulated Serbia on the strategic decision to introduce the flights, expressing confidence that it is good for Serbia and the US, bilateral relations and tourism.
